I Still Know How to Groove

Ok, this is a doofy song but I loved it years ago! I would listen to Dawson McAllister on Sunday nights, and that was in Arkansas where good Christian radio was basically non-existent. I was in heaven when I got to Nashville! So on Sunday nights there was this one station that would play Dawson McAllister and then something like Z-music or something like that. And they would always play this song and I absolutely adored it! It's really cheesy and the music and vocals aren't even that good. But I just liked it at the time. It's goofy and I am goofy.

Anyhow, so I went into C.D. Warehouse in Donelson on Monday, knowing that I couldn't really buy anything, unless they happened to have something I absolutely couldn't find anywhere else. And I had the thought, "I wonder if they hae Everybodyduck? That would be a hoot!" And SURE ENOUGH they did! I haven't ever seen their album ANYWHERE! It was $4 so I had to splurge for memories' sake.

And as a disclaimer, anyone who really knows me that by posting this song I am not advocating "do what you want 'Christianity' " . It's just saying that people tend to think of Christians and think of all the weird psycho extreme religious nuts instead of real Christianity. So it's just saying, this is what I'm not, and yes I'm a Christian and that means I'm alive in Christ! (And you can groove in the privacy of your own home). :-)

Still Know How to Groove
by Everybodyduck

Well I don’t have a Bible that weighs eight hundred pounds
And I never passed out flowers at the mall
I have never talked to spacemen or howled at the full moon
Don’t have a velvet painting of Jesus on my wall

Well I don’t have a brief case or wear a three piece suit
And I never ride my bike wearing a tie
I have never shaved my off or sacrificed a friend
Don’t want my head chopped off and frozen when I die~

CHORUS

Well Jesus doens’t want me for a zombie
And he’s given me free will so I can choose
I’ve escaped this world’s snare but I don’t have to be square
Oh yes, I have become a Christian but I still know how to groove

Well I’ve never played with cobras or walked on red hot coals
And I’ve never even touched a tambourine
I’m not very good at bingo, I don’t worship shiny rocks
No don’t have plans to wed my sister named Irene

Well I don’t pray to statues, not even if they cry
Don’t watch that Jesus station on t.v. all day long
Well I’ve never seen Elvis, don’t have six billion kids
And I don’t sing through my nose on every song

CHORUS

Well Jesus doens’t want me for a zombie
And he’s given me free will so I can choose
I’ve escaped this world’s snare but I don’t have to be square
Oh yes, I have become a Christian but I still know how to groove
