The Warrior is a Child
by Twila Paris
Lately I've been winning battles left and right
But even winners can get wounded in the fight
People say that I'm amazing
Strong beyond my years
But they don't see inside of me
I'm hiding all the tears
They don't know that I go running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
'Cause deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child
Unafraid because His armor is the best
But even soldiers need a quiet place to rest
People say that I'm amazing
Never face retreat
But they don't see the enemies
That lay me at His feet
They don't know that I go running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and and cry for just a while
'Cause deep inside this armor
the warrior is a child

I am behind with the postings, but I only get on a few times a week.
In responce to all the comments about The Chronicles of Narnia:
Rachel is right, anonymous missed the point of the questions. If God is all powerful, then how can we have free will? Having the power to make our own decisions requires that God give up some of his power to us. Thus making Him less than all powerful. Granted, He could take away our free will at any time, thus maintaining his status as all powerful being. However, the presence of evil, in the person of Satan, negates the possibility of God being all powerful. More on that later.
Unfortunately for Christians, the idea of God being imperfect is more or less anathema.
What we "recognize" as good is whatever God tells us is good. Since God is all powerful, whatever He likes is good, and whatever He doesn't like is bad. As I have said in the past, God is the ultimate tyrant. (If anyone has a problem with that word, read the definition.) But if God is not all powerful, then what is good and bad becomes a subjective matter. Meaning that we decide what is good or bad.
Question for Becky: Do you happen to be a gnostic?

heh, must be a different anonymous person. I like this one better. I guess you could call me agnostic, though I've never quite got the entire meaning of the word, and I don't generally categorize myself. I never think about it that much. It's enough for me just to believe in what I believe in without category. btw you can check out my blog at confusionspace.blogspot.com

My thoughts are that... God IS all powerful, but with that He is wise and good. So while He COULD force everyone into being mindless automatons, He chooses not to. I personally would not serve a god who just steamrolled everyone into following Him. If my husband told me that he loved me because he had no choice, out of duty, I would say that's not really love, is it? I don't want that kind of "love", and God doesn't want that kind of "love" either.
I have more thoughts but I'm sleepy and won't be able to formulate my ideas properly... like I ever really do anyway!
Jon, is that you again? I don't know why people feel the need to be anonymous, it's not gonna offend me to know who you are or that you feel or think a certain way. I'm not like that.
Anyhow, I'm enjoying these little discussions. Most of the time people who call themselves Christians (some really are, some only claim to be), shy away from topics that make them uncomfortable or that they don't know anything about. But really, I like being pushed outside my comfortable knowledge zone by friendly honest discussions. I hate heated debates. Open frank discussion actually might get us all somewhere.

I agree with you on the discussions. I NEED more of them to challenge myself. Ya know? People sometimes think it is wrong or heated (even though some are) cause it makes them uncomfortable at times. I love it! Challenge me anyday! Drive me to the Word! :)
We really should hang out and just discuss sometime! :D

It's not that God is imperfect that allows him to give us free will. But that he stands back and hopes that we will make the right choices when he puts us to the test. I know and believe that if I make such bad decisions that I feel like the world is falling apart I know that God is always there to help me pick up the pieces and go on. Hopefully to make the right choice the next time he stands back to test me.
The words to this song are so powerful, I hope we all know who we can turn to when times are so low. Praise God! I do : )
